My Reading Fantasy

I wrote this poem with the help of my friend Priyam, so tell me what you think about it.

Have you ever read a book?
And felt tears well up in your eyes
Or maybe your mouth cranking up in a smile
Or even imagined flying in the sky?

Have you ever read a book?
And tried to think like the characters
Or felt emotions in your heart swirl
Or even imagined living in their world?
I Have

I like to think, that when I fall
As a raindrop in death’s shoreless sea
This world of books inside my thoughts
Will mourn for me.

Once, during a time of great difficulty
I was in my world of fantasy
Lo Behold! There I saw
A shelf of books, instantly giving solace to my soul.

The first book I picked out
Was “The Tale of Fairies Ought”
It was all imagination
And my fancy it caught.

The next one was “The tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens
My favourite character in that was Mr. Hickens
Or maybe something else was his name
Shame on me for not remembering all those names!

Lastly came my favourite, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”
The number of times I’ve read it is maybe 13?
I love sweet little Charlie, and Willy Wonka’s so silly!
It was a sugary ending to my wonderful fantasy.

I like to think that when I fall
As a raindrop in Death’s shoreless sea
This world of books inside my thoughts
Will mourn for me.

And suddenly I felt a drastic shock
With that I completely awoke
And saw what was going on around
I was surprised to see a teacher in the class!

She looked at my face
And demanded to know what I was doing
A student sleeping in the class!
Didn’t it feel the least bit embarrassing?

I wish I could’ve remained in my fantasy
With no one to stop me from reading
Because, reading makes a person complete
And nothing else can accomplish that feat.

A lot of friends come and go
But when you feel really low
And want someone to be with you

Books, with you, will always be true.
